Cooperative supports new event center project

Eastern Iowa REC made a $20,000 donation to the new event center at teh Muscatine County Fair. The $2 million project will add a building that will be modern but complement historic structures on the fairgrounds. It will fill a major void for Muscatine County, which does not have a facility to host over 500 people.

Eastern Iowa RECis proud to support the Muscatine County Fair and its latest building project. The Cooperative was founded in 1935 to help improve the lives of rural residents in eastern Iowa by bringing electrical power to area homes, farms and businesses.

Donations like this are made by the Cooperative using funds accumulated from unclaimed patronage dollars. In the past, these dollars were returned to the State of Iowa coffers. The Cooperative is now allowed to use these funds to support specific educational and economic development activities. Because donations like this are coming out of unclaimed patronage funds, they have no bearing on Cooperative rates.
